Cattle : Beef

Cattle have always been in our blood, from the Holsteins in the dairy stalls of Yakima to the black Angus currently calving on the Royal Slope, we couldn’t imagine life without beef, nor would we.

Huntzinger Ranch raises top quality Angus beef in Royal City, WA. We use a natural conception bull program to retain the best genetics for the herd. The goal is to own cattle that are economically viable, thick and deep, moderate in stature, tailored to fit our specific environment, that raise fundamentally sound calves and breed back reliably. In addition, we also take into account a contribution for increased marbling in our farm-to-table, pasture raised, finished beef.

The end goal of the beef program is to take our grass fed, grain finished beef directly from the farm to the consumer. The cattle we butcher have not been treated with growth hormones or antibiotics and were finished on a combination of grain & protein-rich forage to give you a lean, more flavorful cut of beef with plenty of marbling. Cattle are butchered before 30 months resulting in less “old fat” and young muscle. We pride ourselves on taking excellent care of our animals and it’s evident in the beef program.

From farm to consumer is our goal so we choose a USDA-certified meat processing plant to ensure the best care is taken from the field to your finished package. Limit Bid Packing uses Vistatrac traceability systems to provide information from rancher to you assuring your beef is 100% traceable from our farm to your plate.

LOCKER BEEF

If you’re looking to purchase a larger quantity of beef comprised of several cuts, locker beef is the best ‘bang for your buck’, available several times of the year (February, June, August, October and December), locker beef is sold by the hanging weight (carcass weight or about 60% of the live weight of the finished animal). Final product is roughly 50-60% of hanging weight. It’s aged 2 weeks before it’s cut to your instruction. Pickup is available 3 weeks after slaughter date.

Whole, half, or quarters are available for purchase depending on availability. Locker beef is $4/lb + cut and wrap (see below). You can request to do your own cutting instructions or a generic order. All beef is certified USDA inspected and sealed in cryovac, which will keep beef up to two years.

Delivery and processing of your animal will be arranged by us, typically it takes about 21 days after the animal is delivered to have the final product.

cost: $4/lb (hanging weight) + cut + wrap charge : $1.15/lb ($.85/lb grind only)
